The BAW is a provider of expert opinions and consulting services for safe, efficient and sustainable federal waterways.
BAW will deliver a work package for the SHINES project, assessing the hydrokinetic potential based on tidal velocity, supported among others by Cerema (Centre for Studies on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Urban Planning). To this end, BAW will use the hydrodynamic North Sea model with a focus on the German Bight and map the tidal potential and environmental parameters to identify four further suitable sites for tidal and river energy. The feasibility of these sites will be evaluated in terms of economic, technical, legal and organisational factors.
