In August 2025, IrBEA took part in the International Biochar Initiative’s (IBI) Study Tour Wales, a hands-on three-day event that brings together biochar practitioners, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world.
Across August 20–22, participants delved into practical biochar systems across Wales, discovering how local innovators are applying biochar in agriculture, forestry, waste valorization, and climate adaptation.
Key highlights included live visits to biochar production sites, demonstrations of fixed and mobile pyrolysis equipment, field discussions with local producers, and technical deep dives into how biochar can be integrated into regional circular carbon strategies. #International Biochar Initiative
For IrBEA, this tour provided valuable exposure to real-world biochar installations, new ideas for Irish biochar applications, and networking opportunities with European peers active in biochar innovation.
